Seattle’s Best: Drive-Thru Seattle, TX

966223EB-C43B-49D4-B1D7-6FB4E591CBC6There are a few things that I could not live without in this world and coffee is one of them.  Most people think that coffee is ruined once you add something sweet, well obviously those people have not tried a Seattle’s Best specialty drink—like an iced Birthday Cake Latte or a S’mores Mochas (also available hot, if you prefer).

Yesterday, Seattle’s Best opened ten new drive-thru locations in the Dallas area.  The quick-stop coffee shop designed for the coffee drinker on the go does not only have quick, delicious coffee, but also handheld savory and sweet breakfast and lunch options that will leave you raving.

In honor of their grand opening, I was lucky enough to have a Seattle’s Best expert drive-thru with me, help me pick out some of the best items and experience one of the best drive through lunches I’ve had in a while. These drive-thru shops are set up for you to choose with ease. You can get a combo with a normal drink or you can upgrade and add a specialty drink. Each item on the combo menu is under $5.00, made to order and sure to leave you satisfied.  Pick a savory or sweet ‘Tasty Pie’- like a caramel apple or spicy mac n cheeses, an egg sandwich on a biscuit or English muffin or a pretzel melt, like a spinach and feta.

A479C211-6D32-4360-B1F6-0846F26562E6The breakfast english muffin with sausage, egg and cheese was divine. The muffin was flaky and buttered to perfection. The sausage fresh, flavorful and the perfect thickness complimenting the rest of the sandwiches cheesy and eggy goodness.

Looking for an easy, delicious and satisfying lunch? The spinach feta pretzel melt is something to remember—complete with almost all of your food groups, protein, veggies & carbohydrates, in one little pretzel pocket. The pretzel bread has just the right amount of salt to cure your craving and has plenty of spinach and feta to fill you up for the rest of the day.

Seattle’s Best Coffee, available in grocery stores and at any of their 10 new locations, is easy, quick and delicious. Tasting is believing, so try it out.

Café Momentum: Inspiring, Inventive and Delicious

Modern Ceviche- key lime, habanero, avocado & tortillas

Modern Ceviche- key lime, habanero, avocado & tortillas

Inspiring, inventive and delicious are three words I would use to describe Café Momentum and their revolutionary mission. The non-profit organization, conceived by Parigi co-owners Chad Houser and Janice Provost, blends mentorship with the culinary experience and allows young men from the Youth Village Resources of Dallas, an organization dedicated to helping juvenile offenders reach their law-abiding potential and divert them from further involvement with the juvenile justice system, to learn and live to their full potential through pop-up dinners with featured chefs.

Crispy Pork Belly, Okra, Cornbead Crouto

As I entered Parigi this past Sunday, I was cheerful greeted by Chad Houser and three of the young men from the Dallas County Youth Village. The young men, dressed to the nines, greeted us with professionalism and enthusiasm. They were there because they are part of a program through the Youth Village Resources of Dallas where they learn basic culinary skills and, that night, would be working alongside Chef Tiffany Derry to prep, cook, plate and serve our meal. They walked around the room with a smile on their face and conviction in their eyes as they offered attendees Nduja stuffed Fried Olives or Garbanzo marinated Bruschetta. In between preparing our meal and squeezing 15 lbs of limes, Chef Derry had taught them that day, what they would be serving and they promptly memorized and perfected their explanations- a task that I  probably would have failed since I am not quite sure what Nduja is or how to say it. Surtido Veracruzano

Jefferson Boulevard of Downtown Oakcliff is lined with traditional Mexican restaurants, Dollar Generals, Quinceanera dress shops and then you find the modern and quaint  Mesa serving Veracruz coastal cuisine.  The design is beautiful with big windows in the front and art installations made of old boards adorning the walls.  The crisp and modern feel of the room is continued with large, rustic metal art and accents above the bar and against the walls. Maple and Motor

Fried Bolonga Sandwich

So it finally happened, I finally had my fried bolonga sandwich at Maple & Motor. I had been craving it all week and talking about it for longer than I can remember, so I finally decided we had to go.  This craving was satisfied when the bolonga sandwich was placed in front of me and with the first bite I knew it was everything I could have possibly imagined. A buttered & toasted bun, plenty of mayo, lettuce, tomato and a think slice of bolonga. The perfectly grilled piece of mystery meat was heavenly. It tasted like a hot dog in a burger like form. It may not be for everyone, but it is definitely something that I will love and crave forever. Read More
