Southpaws Organic Grill

Southpaws is one place that I must go, at least once a week. It is great for any meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Everything offered is organic, healthy, fresh and delicious.   Build your own wrap with the array of filling options offered, or choose from one of their many salads, stir fry or sandwich options.

Recently Southpaws has brought me back to my youth with their peanut butter and jelly. I mean, who doesn’t love a PB&J? That would be downright un-american. This organic cafe does them right with their plain PB&J and their many other creative PB&J options. I recommend the Soopaman, a PBJ with vanilla almond granola, sliced bananas, agave nectar and your choice of bread. It is satisfying, filling and is reminiscent of those days on the playground when you didn’t have a care in the world.

Feeling a little more on the healthy side? What about half an avocado filled with hummus, tabbouleh or tuna salad. What about both! This delicious combination is served on a bed of fresh spinach with a poppy seed dressing, it is satisfying, delicious and good for you! Their tuna only has 1 tsp of mayonnaise per serving and avocados are filled with all those good fats that you  need, so dig in! :)

Now here is your task, check out one of their locations and either sit outside and enjoy the hustle and bustle of 3227 McKinney Ave or sit back and enjoy the cozy atmosphere in Preston Center, 6009 Berkshire Lane.

Cosmic Cafe

Looking for a vegetarian option? Cosmic Cafe is the perfect place for you veggie lovers, hipsters and yoga goers. Don’t fall in that category? Don’t worry because the food is so delicious, you won’t even notice you are missing meat. Recently, a friend and I went for a quick dinner and were more than pleasantly surprised. The food was AMAZING! Their hummus was one of the best I’ve ever had, and their naan was like a piece of fluffy heaven. My order, the Cosmic Stir fry, consisted of a combination of tofu, asparagus, broccoli, bell peppers, onions, carrots, snow peas, squash and ginger in a masala curry sauce on basmati rice.  It was perfectly spiced, portioned, and the sauce added that delicious Indians style kick (that I love).  Don’t feel like  a large and in charge dinner? The cafe also serves an assortment of “celestial light offerings”, including the Herbal Renewal, naan filled with avocado, cream cheese, spinach, mozzarella and herbs. What a combination and as strange as it sounds it was definitely a good one. When we left, we were ranting, raving and anticipating our next return to the Cosmic Cafe and what we were going to order. If you haven’t been here yet, get yourself on on over to the cafe on Oaklawn and enjoy the amazing decor and the even more amazing food.
